Aio Frei is developing a four-part sound work for the replacement of a social housing estate in Zurich, which is intended to translate diverse relationships into ceramic sound bodies and resonances on site. Certain interfaces – or in the spatial sense: places of encounter – at the housing estate are emphasized by spefically composed sounds.
This includes individual sound bodies for each apartment bell, communal sound bodies in general transit zones, dining bowls in the common room and a composition with the spatial resonance in each building, which will be published on a website. In each part of the project, sound bodies made of ceramic bowls form the central part – each in different diameters and surfaces.
